Arts & Business Cymru Awards Winners 2009

Held at the Wales Millennium Centre, this year's awards recognised the best examples of partnerships between the arts and businesses in Wales. Legal & General received the top business award alongside Artes Mundi, which won the arts award, and Samantha James of Veolia Water Outsourcing who scooped Individual of the Year award.

The boards of arts and cultural organisations in the UK are 'male, stale and pale' and lead to weak and unbalanced leadership (according to a recent conference on governance in the cultural sector). Young Professionals on Arts Boards, an innovative pilot programme that could counter this issue, was celebrated at an event on 30 April 2009. The initiative is just one of a number of our programmes that provide support and expertise to cultural organisations and their boards.
